Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours of wedding photography coverage do I need?

Each wedding is unique but for most situations eight hours of coverage is a great amount that gives you everything you need: from the getting ready photos in the morning or early afternoon all the way through to the party in the evening. You know your needs best so if you want to book more or fewer than eight hours, I have several package options and am happy to work with you to get you the coverage that’s right for you.

Do I need a second photographer?

A second photographer is a wonderful luxury but certainly not a requirement. I document many weddings each year as a solo photographer with great results. If it is in your budget a second photographer can certainly add to your gallery, capturing different angles and allowing you to get photos from two places at once. When clients book a second photographer, I usually work with my wife, Simi, or if she’s not available I bring along another trusted photographer who will do great work and add to your day. All the photos from both photographers are edited by me in the same style for a cohesive look.

How many photos will I receive?

There is no cap on the number of photos you will receive. If an image adds something to the gallery, rather than feeling like a duplicate or outtake, I will finish and deliver it to you. I typically deliver between 70 and 100 finished files per hour of coverage.

How will my photos be delivered?

All photos are delivered in an online gallery where you can download all of the full resolution finished images and share them with family and friends.

FAQ - Nate Smith Photography

Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes! I love working with queer couples and I’ve worked with many in the past. I think queer love is beautiful and I feel honored to bear witness to it in my work.

What type of gear do you use?

I use two Nikon D850 cameras and a variety of lenses and flash equipment. My favorite lenses are currently a 50mm and a 35mm.

How do you make sure my photos are safe from technical problems or physical accidents?

Every photo is simultaneously recorded to two memory cards every time I take a picture. I have back up equipment with me on the day so I can switch out in case of equipment failure. When I get home after your event all photos are backed up off site to a secure cloud backup.

Can I purchase prints from you?

Yes, when your gallery is delivered there’s an option to purchase prints directly through the interface and all of the work ships straight to you from a trusted lab in Eagan, MN.

Do I have the option to print my photos elsewhere?

Yes! You have full printing rights for your photos. I recommend purchasing through my print store because I can guarantee that those prints will be high quality, but you are welcome to print your photos wherever you want—they’re yours after all!
